Many times we live our own life in a way
that seems weird to only those looking from
the outside in. This weekend Bible study was
used a Disciple Now for our Middle School
Students in Fall 2005.
Elevate weekend is built around three
video dramas -- downloadable to the left. A maintenance man
discovers four teenagers living in the
basement of the old building he takes care
of. He learns that they've been there
for many years and see no reason to venture
up to the surface. In their eyes, they
have everything they need plus the security
of never having to deal with the
unknown.
Throughout the weekend the maintenance
man tries to convince them to climb into the
elevator and see what's on the next level as
they all share their reasons for wanting to
stay.
The point you ask?
Central Truth: Many
believers today are trapped in the basement
of the Christian life. Forgive me / help me
/ thank you / forgive me help me thank you
and on and on - never discovering a growing
and ever changing relationship with Jesus.
The weekend consisted of four separate
worship sessions with lessons and we are
providing the audio from two of them.
- The
first lesson was a evangelistic night and we
had
Tony Nolan come speak. There is
not a better speaker we can suggest. He is
the speaker on tour with Casting Crowns for
the Spring leg of their tour. We strongly
urge you to invite him to come speak at your
own event, or purchase the sermon he
preached. It is called
Lifelift, and it preached with a
passion and simplicity, that it will amaze
you.
-The last session was a "White Funeral"
and we will add the notes we made for how to
conduct it. It basically is a way for
students to come put the "trash" of their
lives and place it into a real casket.
We also provided the three video clips
that we used for the last three lessons.
They can be downloaded along with the
notebook that we used for the weekend. As
always feel free to use these as they are,
or to help give you ideas.
Each video is in MP4
format that is playable with
Quicktime or
Quicktime Pro. These videos can easily
be converted to a DVD using any current DVD
writer and software combination. Here is a
great resource site that compares and
reviews some of the latest DVD Authoring
Software. The audio will be in a WMA file
for Windows Media Playback or could be an
MP3. Each file will play in almost any
popular audio software included in most
computers. The most common will be
Windows Media Player or
iTunes.
