GUEST TEACHERS INSTRUCT AND
INSPIRE THIS FALL AT THE INSTITUTE

We’ve had a wonderful fall semester at the
Institute for Global Youth Studies with an amazing line-up of teachers.
This fall’s leadership module at the Institute was specially crafted to
expose students to the finest leaders in America. In addition to the
resident faculty, students have been taught by national leaders who are on
the forefront in their field. Not limited to the classroom alone,
students have been able to share meals with people such as Jay Strack of
Student Leadership University, Evangelist Brent Crowe, strategist John
Stamper, Kelly Davis of the International Missionary Board of the
Southern Baptist Convention, and Mark Hall, Youth Pastor of Eagle’s
Landing First Baptist Church and Lead Singer of Casting Crowns. This
eclectic group has provided a strong leadership foundation for this
year’s students.

GLOBAL YOUTH CAMPS -
CAMP DONE RIGHT!
Is
bigger
always better? It isn’t, when you pay your bills. It isn’t, when you look at the scales after over-eating
during the holidays. And it isn’t when you are developing students as
leaders. We know that you only have one shot each summer with your
students at camp, so we purposely limit the size of our camps so that we
can maximize time spent with your student leaders each week. Don't
let your students get lost in the crowd! Find out how Global Youth
Camps can make a difference in your ministry! Visit our
website for more information!

CHECK OUT THIS MONTH'S FREE RESOURCE!
If you are
in Student Ministry, then you are aware of the pressures that are on our
students. The reality is they are not aware of others just like them
failing to handle the pressure correctly. They will often turn to
cutting, depression, abuse, or even suicide. This month’s free resource
is the first message in a series that meets the students head-on as they
are told how to defeat these powerful secrets in their lives.
For every message there is a support video
that you can use. You will hear in the message as Mark and Reagan refer
to the playing of the video. There is also a trailer video that you can
use to help promote the series.
This lesson is provided by Mark Hall from
Eagles Landing First Baptist Church.

REAGAN'S RECOMMENDATION:
“Great Lives Series" by
Charles Swindoll
Too
many times student pastors are intimidated by the thought of trying to
teach a sermon series on a specific Bible character, unless it’s Jesus,
Peter, or Paul. We tend to always go for the hot topic approach. That
way we are confident we can hold their attention and we can find verses
to support what we are saying. I mean after all is it possible to get a
teenager interested in the life of old, dead people like Job, Moses,
Joseph, or Elijah? I know for me it was simply due to the fact that I
was not very disciplined at studying the characters of scripture in my
own personal bible study. My freshman year of college I was handed a
book by a professor and it changed my outlook on what can be gained from
looking intently into the lives of men and
women of scripture. Chuck Swindoll has released an incredible series looking in depth at specific
characters of scripture. After you get familiar with their lives, you
will find it much more natural and meaningful to pass the wealth of
their experiences and faith on to your students. These books will also
get the creative juices flowing for making life application for your
students from the life experiences of men and women of old. I started
with “Joseph” (incredible!!!), and since have read Moses, Paul, Elijah,
and David. I have Esther and Job and can’t wait to read them. Dig in!
And like Howard Hendricks said, “You’re reading too much if you reflect
too little”! Read with a highlighter in your hand.
