HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and that your New Year is off to a great start!  We are thankful for your love for young people and excited to partner with you in this God-sized vision to reach the most reachable segment of the world’s population!  God has been answering your prayers in our behalf!

MONTHLY free resource

This month’s free resource is a message written by our own Roger Glidewell entitled “Fire Storm!” from Acts 12.  It is part of our curriculum on the book of Acts and can be used as an Outreach Rally.  This free resource is part of a 3 month study of Acts 1-12 available in our online store.  Our commitment is to provide resources to help you teach through the Bible, showing students that all of scripture applies to their lives!

YOUR HELP NEEDED!

We are halfway there! Who could have predicted 18 months ago that Global Youth Ministry would even be here on this amazing property in the Blue Ridge Mountains? Now, over half the funds have been raised to purchase 42 acres of Cohutta Lodge to permanently house the Institute for Global Youth Studies! With your help, this property can become the permanent launching pad for youth mentoring and missions that will impact the Globe!  Your support in prayer and financial giving can literally make it possible to provide a training facility to send college graduates from here to invest a year or more in strategic locations around the world to help start or strengthen ministry among young people.

There are two ways to help turn this dream into reality:

  1. PRAY FOR A MIRACLE! Pray specifically that needed funds will come in!  Join us in praying and expecting this miracle!
  2. GIVE WHATEVER YOU CAN! As God prompts your heart, please help us raise the remaining funds needed to secure this property.  Since Global Youth Ministry is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation, your gifts are tax deductible. You may contribute by pledge (given monthly up to 36 months) or by a one-time gift.

TIME TO REGISTER FOR FALL

December was an exciting month at the Institute for Global Youth Studies as we graduated 10 students through 3 different tracks of study:
- The Emerging Leader's Track,
- The Youth Ministry Track, and
- the Youth Mentoring Track.
This semester students were challenged to develop as leaders personally so that they can be be persons of influence to others.  Now is the time to begin the application process for next fall!

Blake Cassell, recent graduate and future mentor to Kenya writes:

"My time at the Institute was invaluable to me not only for my future in ministry, but also for my walk and future as a church member.  I learned invaluable information on what the Bible says about healthy ministry and about healthy believers.  The thing that made the biggest impact on me, however, was learning specifics about why God has shaped me the way He has.  I was compelled to examine many aspects of my life that I would never have considered before.  Combined with an outstanding faculty and amazing classmates, this semester changed my life.  Oh, and did I mention the view?"

GRADUATING MENTORS BEGIN SERVICE ABROAD!

We originally estimated that the first Global Youth mentors would be commissioned in 2007.  God has far surpassed our expectations by allowing us to commission our 8th mentor in December 2006!  Kyle and Julie Riddle arrived in Africa in December to begin serving for a year as youth missionaries and mentors!  God has already blessed them with a wonderful place to live and immediate ministry opportunities.  Amelia Consedine has just arrived in Moldova joining Jamey Dickens!  Also, December's graduating class at the Institute for Global Youth Studies included three other mentors who will depart for mission service abroad in the coming months! REAGAN'S RECOMMENDATION

My recommendation this month is a little different. I want to recommend you listen to a teaching series on the family by Voddie Baucham. It's a four part series called "Family Driven Faith". Why would I recommend this? Three reasons:
1. We need to evaluate and make sure we are living out biblical marriages and leading biblical homes.
2. We need to help equip parents to do their most important ministry - discipling their own children. This is a responsibility that can't be passed on. We need to stop just telling them they should and teaching them how.
3. We need to teach more on the awesome biblical relationship of marriage and less on divorce practice (or as some call it "dating"). We spend more time equipping kids for college than we do for something way more important - marriage. They need to understand what a biblical husband and biblical wife should look like. This series would be a great tool to pull from. This 4-part series can be purchased and downloaded from Vodie's website.
